RACHEL & JOHN GET HITCHED : HUMMINGBIRD NEST RANCH : THE VIDEO

When I saw the video of Rachel & John’s day from Love Spun Films, it sealed the deal. I already knew Jessica and her team were talented in creating a beautiful recap of a wedding day, but didn’t realize how in tune she was with the emotions and intimacy that a wedding day holds until I saw this little number. I mean, the look on the groom’s face at the altar could bring me to tears right this second. I hope you enjoy as much as I did! And, just in case you missed it, see Monday’s post for beautiful images by Jose Villa of the wedding day and even more over at Style Me Pretty!

RACHEL & JOHN GET HITCHED : HUMMINGBIRD NEST RANCH : SANTA SUSANA, CALIFORNIA

Rachel and John were the absolute sweetest. Rachel was a Midwestern girl, and John from southern California. For their wedding they wanted their day to feel effortless and approachable for her Midwestern guests and reflect the Spanish roots both of John’s family but have a feel of old California. Hummingbird Nest Ranch with it’s Spanish villa feel was the perfect backdrop for their vision. The guests were sent gorgeous Spanish lace invitations wrapped in actual Spanish lace and silk ribbons to reflect the color story of creams, taupes and fuchsia as well as the Spanish lace shown on Rachel’s gown.

The ceremony took place in a grove of olive trees that provided a natural landscape so her lace and bougainvillaea-covered altar could pop. Down the aisle, more bougainvillaea grew up the chairs and lined Rachel’s pathway. The bridal party wore taupe and carried soft bouquets of pink peonies wrapped in Spanish lace. Guests were greeted with Agua Fresca and Spanish-inspired fans to keep them cool.

Dinner was set overlooking the villa under a canopy of raw Italian light bulbs. Guests sat at long wooden feasting tables lined with Spanish-style fabric. Fuchsia peonies, bougainvillaea and other blooms filled terra cotta pots, creating an elegant fiesta vibe for the day. After dinner, guests danced until the wee hours, when street tacos and frosties from Wendy’s were served. And, because their dog was such an important part of the family, in lieu of traditional wedding favors, John and Rachel gave “doggie bags” filled with treats for everyone’s furry children who stayed home that night.

D&A GET HITCHED : FRASIER, COLORADO : THE VIDEO

Following the welcome party, guests woke up to a Bluegrass Jam session lead by one of Colorado’s most prestigious blue grass artists, Pete Warnick. He and his group gave lessons, jammed with the guests and were the leaders of fun while the couple prepared for their big day. You can see this and get a glimpse of what is to come from the wedding celebration below in the clip from Rising Moon Video. As a side note, If you are marrying in or out of Colorado, I cannot say enough about the professionalism, talent and charm of Rising Moon. I cannot wait to work with this husband and wife cinematography team again.

D&A GET HITCHED : FRASIER, COLORADO : THE WELCOME

I know, I know, I promised you all a bit of Malibu glamour, which IS coming, but, looking at our 2012 calendar and all of the amazing locations we will be working (including this breathtaking backdrop in Bali, Indonesia) I have been in a destination state of mind. With this being said, I thought it was the perfect time to share D&A’s destination wedding weekend in Frasier, Colorado.

The weekend took place at Devil’s Thumb Ranch, which the couple took over for their 200 guests who flew in from all over the country. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect place for two people who are in love with the simplicity of nature and overall just wanted a warm weekend surrounded by those closest to them.

First up, was the welcome party featuring casual Colorado BBQ overlooking the mountains complete with a bonfire and culminating in hay rides through the nearby pastures. It was a wedding I would have LOVED to be a guest at, and Lina and I definitely enjoyed seeing the weekend unfold. Check out the welcome party fun that was captured by Steve Steinhardt…We will be back later in the week with the wedding images and a video clip of the entire experience.

RAQUEL & FRANK GET HITCHED

If you’ve had the chance to peek through our current issue of Darling, you’ve already seen a sneak peek of Raquel & Frank’s winery inspired wedding. This couple lived for their weekend’s in Napa and wanted to bring that feel to Malibu at the Saddlerock Ranch. Raquel was a true girly girl loving pink as she did, so we blended her love for the palest shades of the hue with more masculine touches to reflect Frank’s preference for cleaner and more residential design. We loved the result and hope you do too! Of course, Jose Villa did an amazing job of capturing both the romance and the details of the day.
